Community Events

ChathamArts coordinates a wide variety of enjoyable and educational community events, including Clydefest, the Potluck in the Pasture series, and the Annual Fall Music Concert.

Clydefest

ClydeFest is an annual outdoor festival to honor Clyde Jones, an award-winning self-taught folk artist living in Bynum. His chainsaw critters have been exhibited all over the world. Though they are not for sale, Jones sometimes gives them away to friends or to causes he believes in... his artwork can be seen in the yards of mill houses in historic Bynum, North Carolina, at local eateries, and  in the gardens of the Governor’s Mansion in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Potuck in the Pasture

Each Summer, ChathamArts sponsors the Potluck in a Pasture Series in various locations around Chatham County. Each event invites folks to come out, bring a homemade dish, enjoy food and the arts. Potlucks feature different themes and Chatham County locations, as well as the chance to meet local artists and share a meal. A small donation for each person attending a Potluck helps to fund ChathamArts community programs.

Fall Music Concert

ChathamArts presents an Annual Fall Music Concert to showcase our local musical talent and raise funds to support our community arts programs.

In 2006, we had our most successful concert yet, with the 35th Anniversary Concert of the Chatham County-based Bluegrass Experience at the historic Fearrington Barn. Current and former members of the band were featured in this very special music event, including Michael Aldridge, "Fiddlin' Al" McCanless, Thomas L. "Snuffy" Smith", Stan Brown and Tommy Edwards, plus past band members Jimmy Cameron, Keith Thomas, and Leroy Savage.

Please see our Calendar for more event information.
